Polka Dots

24 Aug

Polka Dots, to me, have always been a little bit naff and a lot of bleeehhhh. I’ve always thought they look cheap and just screamed desperately “oh my god, please look at me- I am retro, I am.”. Untill recently that is. When I saw this photo :

And suddenly the penny just dropped. They are gorgeous, glamorous, timeless, and thanks to Stella McCartney back at the start of the summer, fashionable too. So with my new found discovery that Polka Dots weren’t half as cringey as I had once assumed, I scooped up the first pair of Polka Dot tights I came into contact with.

Polka Dot Body Shaping Tights by M&S £6

And I have been hooked ever since!

Enjoy….

I can’t believe you were a polka dot hater! I used to live in navy and white polka dot dresses, perfecto! Glad you’ve worked your way over to the dark side anyway, we’re nice us polka dot lovers, honest ❤ Other than the Cheryl dress which I think is a little iffy, I love all of the pictures you've found! Very inspiring as always dear x

I love polka dots! I think to me they’ve always seemed timeless and feminine. Polka dots are just a very, very classic motif that can be modern or retro or anywhere in between. I think my first patterned tights (gift from my mom at around 13 or so) were polka dots.

I love, love, LOVE the first pic. It’s such a great example of a polka dots in a modern, feminine context.
